I don't know why other do, but I'm speaking for myself when I say that I always find inspiring that that reminds me of something. A photo of a landscape that reminds me of home, or of my grandparents, a photo of a boy/girl that reminds me of someone, and also a picture of marijuana because it reminds me of times spent with my friends.
Hope that explains a bit, :)

same! i live a block away from the beach on the south jersey shore, and believe me, the people that actually live here are nothing like the people on "jersey shore" haha
